Journal Entries for 2008-03 RV Burro Creek MOE
Summary: We met the MOE group.

Wednesday, March 26th: We left Parker a little later than we planned. We were going to try to get to the Burro Creek Campground and meet the Mohave Outback Explorers (MOEs) before they left for a short run in the afternoon. But....we got up a little late and then spent longer than we planned having coffee with Rohde, watching the river go by. It was a really nice morning and it was hard to rush.

We were mostly packed, so all we had to do was hook up the Jeep behind the Roamer and take off. We went north on Hwy 95 to Hwy 40 and then east on Hwy 40 to Kingman and beyond. We took Hwy 93 south to Mile Marker 140 and turned into the Burro Creek Campground (it's 65 miles SE of Kingman).

We arrived at the campground just as the MOEs were leaving for a short run. When we turned off the highway, Dick stopped us and asked if we were looking for the MOEs (guess he noticed the Jeep we were towing). He told us they'd be back in a few hours and to go find a good site, we'd meet up with them when they got back. We couldn't tell where the MOEs were camped (to get a site near them) because they were out in their vehicles, so we just looked for a good site.

After we got settled, we took the Jeep for a short reconnoiter trip. We drove across Burro Creek and got pictures of Burro Creek from the bridge.

We drove over a rough road back to the highway. This must be the back door to the campground. We got a great picture of the campground from above, with Burro Creek in the foreground and the huge bridge over Burro Creek in the background. Our Roamer is hidden in the trees on the far left side of the campground.

There has been a lot of rain recently and the wildflowers were in abundance. The pictures just don't do them justice.

Later that afternoon, we walked around the campground looking for Dick's red Toyota with a Flip-Pac. We found it clear on the other side of the campground, of course. We met the group and chatted for a little bit. Dan (our leader) for the next day said the group would gather about 8:30 a.m. We went back to the Roamer to have dinner and get things organized for the next day.
